Re: John Barnes can't get a job because he's black
That's the society we live in these days, if a white person is terrible at their job they can be sacked and that's it.

If a black person is terrible at their job and you sack them it's because you are a racist and they will sue the arse off you.

That's why black people find it hard to get jobs, not because they aren't any good but simply because it carries a lot of baggage employing them.

Re: John Barnes can't get a job because he's black
I just saw that Ramsey story and was compelled to revisit this thread.

I think he's wrong. Should they go down, the main reason he won't get another 'good' managerial job will be because he got them relegated, rather than because he's black. I expect Alan Irvine will find it just as hard to get another job.

Just an easy excuse to convince yourself you're not responsible for your shortcomings.

He should count himself lucky to have got the QPR job in the first place. I am sure plenty of managers no matter of skin colour would have loved that job.

I just read that myself. He's expecting the sack from QPR and already blaming us white racists for not being able to get another job. Fucking world is crazy I tell thee....

You've got me there North Bank. I was under the impression Ince's first job was Blackburn. Shame on me! Barnes went straight to Celtic though, didn't he? Not sure on that basis he can whinge about not getting opportunities.

Having looked at Ince's career he did work his way up the ladder until he made a mess of it at Blackburn, but After that should be really be surprised big clubs aren't after him?

Any manager who hires Jason McAteer as their never two has no long term future in football

It's not because you're black, John, it's because you can't manage a football club and you do more damage then when you arrive.

High five for your work at Celtic though. Just a shame it didn't permanently fuck them up.

Scorch Tranmere, Macclesfield, Notts County and MK Dons are hardly big clubs all having had the misfortune of having Barnes or Ince fucking up their Clubs

Warnock has generally done an excellent job in his career. Good try though.

Have to really respect JFH for taking the Burton job and working his way up. I think that's exactly what Barnes and Ince couldn't be bothered to do, and just expect big jobs based on reputation as players.

If JFH does well, which I hope he will, he'll get offered a bigger job and prove the whingers dead wrong.

how many jobs do you Warnock would have got if he was black. He also thinks "too much of himself".

Re: John Barnes can't get a job because he's black
Barnes has always struck me as someone who thinks far too much of himself in the way that all of the ex Liverpool championship players do. That air of righteous entitlement on the basis that they think they played at the greatest club in the world. Hes obviously a bit of a moron and never has anything meaningful or insightful to say about the game. Take your white suit and fuck off

Re: John Barnes can't get a job because he's black
Basically in the world of John Barnes you could go back through all the clubs he's had interviews for managerial positions and not got the job and they are racist.

That's what he's saying yes?

Valley Hammer 6:45 Mon Mar 30
Re: John Barnes can't get a job because he's black
There was an article in the Mail about the job Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank is doing at Burton.

He says he doesn't want to see a 'Rooney Rule' as he wants to get a job on merit.

It seems to me that Barnes has not been up to the jobs he has been given and that is why he can't get another. If you are good enough you will get the job, all a club, its owners and supporters want is someone who will bring success.

Re: John Barnes can't get a job because he's black
The Carlisle United MD said a few weeks back that he didn't even realise Keith Curle 'was black' until he turned up for his second interview.

True story that.

Anyway, carry on.

Re: John Barnes can't get a job because he's black
I strongly believe that if someone is good enough, given the need for success in the game these days, then they'll get hired. (Maybe except by Dave Whelan)

I'm not sure the problem is at the top level. I think it's at lower levels. I'd be interested to know what the ethnicity breakdown of managerial wannabes (especially ex players) applying for/completing coaching badges actually is.

One problem is that a few of the higher profile black managers (Barnes and Ince as an example) have been utterly shite at it. It's all too easy to say it's racist, when in fact it's probably (in the case of Ince and Barnes) owners having researched their CV and seeing they have failed elsewhere.
